Mia — your in-app budgeting buddy. Calm voice, no shame, never preachy.

Mia Budget Buddy is a personal-finance app for running a household budget without being made to feel bad about it. Mia herself is a calm on-screen assistant — friendly voice, short sentences, never preachy.

Mia is not released yet. She is built and working, and paused while Jolene and Kimberly use her in real households. There is no download here and no release date — what follows is what the app does today in their hands.

What it does

Budgets — flexible category-based budgeting that gracefully handles irregular income.
Debt payoff — track every debt, see snowball vs. avalanche scenarios, watch the runway shrink.
Savings goals — sinking funds, vacation goals, emergency fund milestones.
Receipt capture — point your camera at a receipt, the app auto-shutters, detects edges, OCRs the totals, and files it.
Shopping lists & recipes — connected to the budget so a $48 grocery trip lands cleanly in the right category.
Plaid bank linking (optional) — import transactions from your bank account. You stay in control: the App never sees your banking credentials; Plaid handles the bank login directly.
Mia, the in-app assistant — voice prompts via ElevenLabs (or system TTS), gentle mood states, no shame.

Privacy is the default, not the upsell

Local-first. Budgets, debts, goals, lists, recipes, and receipts live on your device by default.
No advertising. No third-party analytics SDKs.
Optional Community. A friendly feed for milestone-sharing — off by default, with explicit money-shaming bans in the guidelines.
One-tap account deletion in Settings → Account, mirrored by a public deletion URL.
Open about what we share — the full list of every third-party service, and exactly what data goes to each one, publishes with the app.

Designed for tired adults

Big-button rich-data rows with consistent gestures: single tap to edit, long-press for the action bar, no surprise swipes.
A warm sage palette that doesn’t strain your eyes.
Strict “Select All on Focus” on every text field so editing a category name takes one tap, not three.
Comma-formatted amounts. CurrencyTransformation on every monetary input. Sentence case for Mia’s voice prompts; title case for data labels.

Where it stands

Mia is paused for tester feedback while Jolene and Kimberly use the app in real households. Active issues are tracked internally. No public release date, and no download — when that changes, this page changes with it.
