StreamWrangler — Community Guidelines
⚠️ DRAFT — review before publication. These are the user-facing rules. They go alongside the legal Terms of Service.
The StreamWrangler Family Activity feed is a place for households to share what they’re watching, swap recommendations, and celebrate finishing a season together. To keep it warm and welcoming, please follow these guidelines.
The short version
- Be kind. Critique shows, never people.
- No spoilers without warning. Tag spoiler content clearly and put it behind a click-to-reveal whenever possible.
- Keep it family-friendly. The feed sits next to kids’ watchlists. No nudity, slurs, or harassment.
- Share only what’s yours. Don’t post about what someone else watched without their okay.
- No spam, scams, piracy, or selling. No “free streaming” links, no MLM recruiting, no affiliate marketing.
- Don’t share streaming-service credentials. Discussing what’s on Netflix or Disney+ is fine; pasting your password is not.
The longer version
What’s encouraged
- Celebrating milestones — finishing a season, completing a series, hitting a Wrangler rank.
- Asking for recommendations (“we just finished X, what’s next?”).
- Sharing a thoughtful reaction (“the finale stuck the landing for me — anyone else?”).
- Encouraging stranger and household alike. A short “you’d love this one” goes a long way.
- Tagging shows by their official title so the App can show the right poster and metadata.
What’s not allowed
- Harassment, bullying, or shaming of any kind — including comments on someone’s taste in shows, viewing pace, parental choices, or watchlist size.
- Hate speech — attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
- Sexual or pornographic content. This is a family activity surface; we keep it safe for all ages 13+.
- Threats of violence against any person or group.
- Spoilers without warning. A surprise ending in someone’s feed is not a feature. Use the spoiler tag.
- Piracy. Don’t link to unofficial streams, torrent sites, “free movie” aggregators, or piracy how-tos. Recommending a legitimate streaming service that carries a title is fine; linking to a pirate site is not.
- Streaming-service credentials. Don’t share, request, or trade Netflix / Disney+ / Prime / HBO Max / Hulu / Paramount+ / Peacock logins. This rule exists both for safety and to keep us on the right side of those services’ terms.
- Doxxing — sharing someone’s personal information (real name, address, phone, employer, school) without consent. This includes your spouse, ex, in-laws, neighbors, or anyone else.
- Get-rich-quick / MLM / affiliate marketing. No promoting business opportunities, “passive income” courses, or recruiting downlines.
- Spam or commercial promotion. No promoting your YouTube, your Etsy, your blog, your book, your Patreon. The feed is for talking about what you and your family watch.
- Impersonation. Don’t pretend to be someone else.
- Scams — fake giveaways, fundraising claims, requests for money outside of official challenges.
How moderation works
- First-pass AI screen. If and when we add an AI moderation tier (planned but not currently shipped), every post will be checked by a safety classifier before it goes public. Clearly unsafe content is auto-rejected. Borderline content is held for human review.
- User reporting. Hit the ⚠ Report button on any post or comment to flag it. Reports are reviewed within 48 hours.
- Action levels. We may remove content, send a warning, temporarily suspend an account, or permanently ban for serious or repeat violations.
- Appeals. If your content was removed and you believe it shouldn’t have been, email support@sierradigitalforge.com with the subject “Moderation Appeal.” We aim to respond within 7 days.
A note on AI moderation
When AI moderation ships, it’ll catch the obvious stuff fast. AI isn’t perfect — it occasionally flags innocent content (false positive) or misses something subtle (false negative). The user-reporting flow is your safety net. If something gets through that shouldn’t have, please report it.
Protecting younger viewers
Account creation in StreamWrangler is restricted to users 13 and older. Younger members of a household appear in the App through a family-member identity managed by the parent account holder (see COPPA_POLICY.md) — they don’t have their own credentials and don’t post to Family Activity under their own name.
If you’re an account holder under 18:
- Don’t share photos that show your face, your home address, or where you go to school.
- Use a display name that isn’t your real full name.
- Talk to a parent or guardian before joining household-spanning family groups in a future release.
- Never share parent or family-member streaming credentials.
If you encounter someone behaving inappropriately toward a younger user, report it immediately.
A note about shows and taste
Taste is personal. The fact that you’re choosing to share is meaningful — please return that trust:
- Don’t gatekeep. Liking the Food Network procedural is as valid as liking a 12-hour HBO drama.
- Don’t prescribe. What worked for you may not work for someone else. Recommend the show; let them choose.
- Don’t review-bomb. If a show wasn’t for you, “wasn’t for me” is a complete sentence.
A note about spoilers
Many StreamWrangler households have members watching the same show at different paces. Be courteous:
- Tag spoilers with the in-App spoiler tag whenever you reference a plot point past the pilot.
- Don’t title-drop endings in post titles or previews.
- Hold finale reactions for at least 48 hours after the episode airs, then tag generously.
Changes
We may update these guidelines. Material changes will be announced in-app. The current version is always available at Settings → Community → Guidelines.
