This page says what QuiltRBuddy for Windows sends to Sierra Digital Forge LLC and what we keep. Questions, or to have your records deleted: privacy@sierradigitalforge.com, or see Delete Your Data.

Your quilts

We never receive your quilts. If you use Transfer, the quilt is copied to a hidden folder in your own Google Drive.

Usage counts

While usage counts are switched on, the app sends which parts of the app are used, finished or left part-way, how long they’re used, and the sizes typed into size boxes. Each batch carries a random installation ID, the app version, Windows 10 or 11, and the hour it was sent. You can switch it off in Edit → Preferences. We keep the counts with no end date.

Problem reports and help answers

A problem report is sent only when you send one, and sending it is your consent to what it carries. It always includes a record of what you did in the app leading up to the problem, the buttons and keys you pressed, so we can see what produced the error, whether usage counts are on or off. The report also carries what you wrote, the quilt’s name, the app version, your Windows version, processor, memory and graphics, the installation ID, your Google email if you’re signed in, any reply address you typed, and a picture of your screen if you attach one. We keep reports with no end date, except the picture of your screen, which we delete after 180 days.

An answer to “Was your question answered?” is sent even if usage counts are off, with its topic and the same details as a usage-count batch, and kept the same way.

Your free trial and free-year keys

You sign in with Google to start your free trial or use a free-year key (Terms of Service, sections 4.2 and 4.4). Our server keeps, with no end date:

a scrambled code made from your Google email, never the email itself;
a scrambled code made from Windows’ own ID for your computer, and which signed-in person it belongs to;
the day your trial started;
for a free-year key: when the year ends, the computers using it, and the key in scrambled form with when it was used.

Free This PC in Preferences takes a computer off. Google and Microsoft handle your sign-in and your subscription under their own privacy policies.

If you sign up for our newsletter in the app, your first name and email go to Kit, the service that sends it. Nothing is sent until you press Submit. You can unsubscribe from any email we send.

We don’t sell your data. Our hosting provider stores the records above, except newsletter sign-ups, which Kit keeps. We disclose data when the law requires it, and if the company is sold, the records go with it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing privacy@sierradigitalforge.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. We answer within 30 days. California residents have the same rights under the CCPA, and we won’t treat you differently for using them.

Children

QuiltRBuddy isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect anything from them. See Children’s Privacy.

We’ll post changes here and update the date at the top.
