Mia Budget Buddy — Community Guidelines
⚠️ DRAFT — review before publication. These are the user-facing rules. They go alongside the legal Terms of Service.
The Mia Budget Buddy Community is a place to share milestones, encourage one another, and trade practical tips on debt, saving, and household money. To keep it warm and welcoming, please follow these guidelines.
The short version
- Be kind. Critique systems, never people.
- No money shaming. Nobody got into debt because they’re stupid. Treat every starting line as valid.
- Share only what’s yours. Don’t post other people’s financial info — including your spouse’s, your kids’, or your parents’.
- Keep it family-friendly. No nudity, no slurs, no harassment.
- No spam, scams, or selling. No MLM recruiting, no “I’ll teach you to be rich” pitches, no affiliate links.
- Don’t share specific account numbers, bank credentials, or precise net-worth screenshots. Aggregate milestones are great; bank screenshots are not.
The longer version
What’s encouraged
- Celebrating milestones (paid off a credit card, hit a savings goal, finished a budget cycle).
- Asking practical questions (“how do you handle irregular income?”).
- Sharing the system or method that worked for you (envelopes, sinking funds, debt snowball vs. avalanche).
- Encouraging strangers. A short “you got this” from someone who’s been there is the whole point.
- Recipe swaps, shopping-list ideas, and household-management hacks.
What’s not allowed
- Harassment, bullying, or money shaming of any kind — including comments on someone’s debt size, spending choices, income level, occupation, or financial mistakes.
- Hate speech — attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
- Sexual or pornographic content. This is a money-and-household community; we keep it safe for all ages 13+.
- Threats of violence against any person or group.
- Doxxing — sharing someone’s personal information (real name, address, phone, employer, account numbers) without consent. This includes your spouse, ex, in-laws, neighbors, or anyone else.
- Specific financial-account details — account numbers, routing numbers, screenshots that show full balances paired with account names, bank login credentials. Aggregate milestones are fine (“paid off $12k in 18 months”); credentials and balance screenshots are not.
- Get-rich-quick / MLM / affiliate marketing. No promoting business opportunities, crypto schemes, “passive income” courses, or recruiting downlines. Share what worked for you — don’t sell.
- Unsolicited financial advice that could plausibly harm someone. “Stop paying your mortgage and invest the difference” is not the kind of tip we host.
- Spam or commercial promotion. No promoting your YouTube, your Etsy, your coaching practice, your book, your Patreon. (We may add a future “Resources” surface — until then, share-and-tell only.)
- Impersonation. Don’t pretend to be someone else.
- Scams — fake giveaways, fundraising claims, requests for money outside of official challenges.
How moderation works
- First-pass AI screen. Every post is checked by Google Gemini’s safety classifier before it goes public. Clearly unsafe content is auto-rejected. Borderline content is held for human review.
- User reporting. Hit the ⚠ Report button on any post or comment to flag it. Reports are reviewed within 48 hours.
- Action levels. We may remove content, send a warning, temporarily suspend an account, or permanently ban for serious or repeat violations.
- Appeals. If your content was removed and you believe it shouldn’t have been, email support@sierradigitalforge.com with the subject “Moderation Appeal.” We aim to respond within 7 days.
A note on AI moderation
We use AI to catch the obvious stuff fast. AI isn’t perfect — it occasionally flags innocent content (false positive) or misses something subtle (false negative). The user-reporting flow is your safety net. If something gets through that shouldn’t have, please report it.
Protecting younger users
The Community is open to users 13 and older. If you’re under 18, we recommend:
- Don’t share photos that show your face, your home address, or where you go to school.
- Use a display name that isn’t your real full name.
- Talk to a parent or guardian before joining challenges or sharing financial milestones.
- Never share parent or family member account details.
If you encounter someone behaving inappropriately toward a younger user, report it immediately.
A note about debt and savings posts
Money is private. The fact that you’re choosing to share is meaningful — please return that trust:
- Don’t compare. “$5,000 of debt paid off” is a real win whether the next person paid off $50,000 or $500.
- Don’t prescribe. What worked for you may not work for someone else. Share the method; let them choose.
- Don’t gatekeep. Newcomers don’t need to have read every personal-finance book to be welcome here.
Changes
We may update these guidelines. Material changes will be announced in-app. The current version is always available at Settings → Community → Guidelines.
