QuiltRBuddy — Community Guidelines

⚠️ DRAFT — review before publication. These are the user-facing rules. They go alongside the legal Terms of Service.

The QuiltRBuddy Community is a place to share quilting work, celebrate milestones, and encourage other crafters. To keep it warm and welcoming for quilters of every skill level — and every age from 13 to 100 — please follow these guidelines.

The short version

  1. Be kind. Critique craft, never people.
  2. Share only what’s yours (or what you have permission to share).
  3. Keep it family-friendly. No nudity, no slurs, no harassment.
  4. No spam, scams, or selling. Posts are for sharing your craft, not driving traffic elsewhere.
  5. Don’t share personal info about yourself or anyone else.

The longer version

What’s encouraged

  • Sharing your quilt designs, blocks, photos of finished projects, works in progress.
  • Asking for advice (“how would you finish this binding?”).
  • Offering encouragement and constructive feedback.
  • Joining sew-alongs, charity drives, and seasonal challenges.
  • Celebrating milestones — yours and other people’s.

What’s not allowed

  • Harassment or bullying of any kind. This includes name-calling, mocking, repeated unwanted contact.
  • Hate speech — content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
  • Sexual or pornographic content. This is a quilting community; we keep it safe for all ages 13+.
  • Threats of violence against any person or group.
  • Doxxing — sharing someone’s personal information (real name, address, phone, employer) without consent.
  • Spam or commercial promotion. No promoting your shop, your Etsy listing, your YouTube channel, or your patterns for sale. (We may add a dedicated “Marketplace” feature later — until then, share-and-tell only.)
  • Copyright infringement. Don’t post designs, patterns, or photos that aren’t yours unless you have permission.
  • Impersonation. Don’t pretend to be someone else.
  • Scams — fake giveaways, fundraising claims, requests for money outside of official challenges.

How moderation works

  1. First-pass AI screen. Every post is checked by Google Gemini’s safety classifier before it goes public. Clearly unsafe content is auto-rejected. Borderline content is held for human review.
  2. User reporting. Hit the ⚠ Report button on any post or comment to flag it. Reports are reviewed by us (the QuiltRBuddy team) within 48 hours.
  3. Action levels. We may remove content, send a warning, temporarily suspend an account, or permanently ban for serious or repeat violations.
  4. Appeals. If your content was removed and you believe it shouldn’t have been, email support@sierradigitalforge.com with the subject “Moderation Appeal.” We aim to respond within 7 days.

A note on AI moderation

We use AI to catch the obvious stuff fast. AI isn’t perfect — it occasionally flags innocent content (false positive) or misses something subtle (false negative). The user-reporting flow is your safety net. If something gets through that shouldn’t have, please report it.

Protecting younger quilters

The Community is open to users 13 and older. If you’re under 18, we recommend:

  • Don’t share photos that show your face, your home address, or where you go to school.
  • Use a display name that isn’t your real full name.
  • Talk to a parent or guardian before joining group events.

If you encounter someone behaving inappropriately toward a younger quilter, report it immediately.

Changes

We may update these guidelines. Material changes will be announced in-app. The current version is always available at Edit → Preferences → Community → Guidelines.
